The AEC1 is a 30 hour, 4 day course (soon to be 5 days) and is a step up from the RYA 1-Day Diesel Engine Course.
It is what many marine engineers will know as the original AEC.
The objective of the course is to provide a basic theoretical knowledge and some practical hands on experience of diesel engines and systems.
To make the course as practical as possible we use a Volvo and Yanmar engine which we strip down to their component parts and hopefully put back together again.
The course meets the requirements of the MCA Small Commercial Vessel Code, Large Vessel Code and Workboat Code and is the initial course on the engineering pathway.
Please note, from 1st September 2020 the MCA are extending the AEC1 course length to 5 days.
